The winners are announced


After a wonderful Awards evening at Ciencia Viva in Lisbon, which included a very interesting discussion about “Mind, Matter & Media”, we are pleased to announce the winners of the 2012 European Science TV and New Media Awards:


Science in TV Documentaries Award (supported by Janssen

Winner – Automatic Brain (Episode 1 – The Magic of the Unconscious. colourFIELD for WDR , ARTE and ARD, Germany)


Science and Technology in TV Drama Award (supported by NEF: The Innovation Institute)

Winner – Tatort: Auskreuzung (“Crime Scene: Cross Breeding) (Colonia Media Filmproduktions for WDR, Germany)


Science and Technology in TV General Programmes Award (supported by Ciência Viva)

Winner – A Night with the Stars (BBC2, UK)


The Science in New Media Award (supported by the European Science Foundation)

Winner – Money and Speed: Inside the Black Box (iPad Application, VPRO, The Netherlands)


The Science in Environment Award (supported by BASF)

Winner – Orbit – Earth’s Extraordinary Journey – Episode 1 (BBCTV, UK)


The best presentation of a Woman Scientist or Engineer, real or acted (supported by EuroPaws & EuroScience)

Winner – Bones (Episode of the series ‘Origins of Us’) (BBC TV, UK)


The best production as voted on by the Festival Theatre Audience (supported by Ciência Viva)

Winner – Codebreaker (A Production of Story Center Productions, LLC and Furnace Ltd in association with Channel 4 Television Corporation, UK)


We were delighted that so many representatives of the shortlisted programmes could make it to the Awards evening in person to pick up the spectacular trophies. A range of pictures of the evening can be viewed on the gallery page.
