Science Squad – S02E02

This is a fast moving science magazine programme, presented by Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain, Kathriona Devereux and Jonathan McCrea. return to present the second series of “The Science Squad”, and find that Ireland’s researchers Its hallmark is to find a different and interesting take on well know phenomena. Here they look at sea-weed, both its role in preserving biodiversity as part of the ecosystem off Ireland’s shore, and also in health and cosmetics. There is an investigation into an innovative treatment for sleep disorders, and a look at how cell grafts on to damaged bones can help those in sports – particularly Rugby – who suffer nasty bone inujuries.

A new segment entitled “Weird Science” features UCC Environmental Scientist Fergus Mc Auliffe who looks at some lesser know features of waste water, including how willow trees are being used as wastewater treatment systems.
